Extra Credit

On my trip in October, I went to the Empire State building.
It was the tallest building at the time it was built.

At the time, a popular way of tranportation was by zeppelins, or balloons. The mast was designed for the zeppelin to moor. However, it was never used.
This is the view from the top of the Empire state building. We could see the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge which was the longest suspension bridge at the time of its compeletion in 1964.
We saw the Brooklyn Bridge while we were in New York.  It was the first bridge to use steel cables when it was built in 1883.

We also visited my granddad in North Carolina. We talked about his former job, which was a metrologist. They make sure that the measurements and physical qualities are correct for buildings.

Cardboard canoe challenge

Yesterday we participated in a canoe race in the pool with the canoes made out of cardboard and duct tape.
I have compeleted 5 achievements.
I compeleted the build it achievement where I built the canoe with my team. Our canoe had a v bottom shape which fills the v bottom achievement.
For the feedback achivement, under the positive sign we stayed up for a long time and the canoe was easy to build. Under the change sign I think we should build a flat shape bottom and we should have built our paddle better so we could have gotten faster. I was surprised that it floated as long as it did and that water came into the canoe. Some questions are that if we would have done better if we had a flat bottom and why the v bottom succed inn the water.
In the how low did it go achievement, our canoe went a couple of inches down in the water when it floated. The density of the boat was less than the water's density which is why it floated.
I also compeleted the redesign achievement. I think next time we do this project my group should build a flat bottom canoe so it would float better and we could win.

My first post

http://www.nba.com/home/index.html
I love playing sports. My favorite sport to play is basketball. I wasn't on the school team last year. I do plan to try out for the team this year. I played for a rec team at a YMCA this summer. That was pretty fun. My team wasn't very good, however we almost beat the best team twice. In the first game we were up by three points, but the other team shot a threepointer at the last second to tie the game. The game finished in a tie which my team was sastified with.

I have compeleted two achievements. I made bricks on Inventor by making lines.

I compeleted the Tbone brick.

I also compeleted the basic brick.

Emergency supply list

Some disasters are a fire, an earthquake, and a tornado. The supplies on my list are a flashlight, a radio, and some water.
Also:
  • food
  • first aid kit
  • handheld TV
  • knives
  • lighter
  • rocket that propels you in the air
  • extra clothes
  • money
  • cell phone
  • medicine
  • generator
  • GPS
  • shoes
  • fire extingusher
  • computer
  • portable toilet
  • helicopter
The feedback that I got is that my list was it is a very thorough and pratical list. Some changes suggested are
that I should add a lantern, batteries, and computer connectors for the Internet. The surprises were that I had a helicopter and a rocket on my list. Some questions are what would the helicopter be used for and did the power outage give me any ideas. Some changes I would make is to add batteries to my list. I would take a helicopter off because it's not realistic and I want my supplies to be portable and fit into a backpack.
